Dr. Joseph Onyango, PhD, is a senior faculty member, teaching Academic and Executive Education Programmes at the Institute of Healthcare Management, Strathmore University Business School. He is a don of human resources, organisational behaviour and strategy. He is a seasoned management consultant, corporate trainer and a researcher.
Dr. Onyango draws his wealth of experience having consulted for leading Global Professional firms (Commonly referred to as the Big 4). He served at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) where he served as the Engagement Manager leading the delivery of multiple projects across Africa in various industries.
He is a member of a number of professional bodies that include: International Economics Development and Research Centre (IEDRC), Allied Business Academies, International Academy of African Business and Development, Institute of Human Resources Management, Kenya, Kenya Institute of Management, Association of Change Management Professionals and Organisation Development Learning Group.
He also served as an adjunct faculty at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where he taught Masters and PhD programmes. He has been involved in executive education and training across the East Africa Region for corporate-private sector organisations and public sector organisations for both Management and Boards.
As a scholar, Dr. Onyango is involved in: teaching and examination, supervision of Masters and PhD Dissertation, research, publication and presentation of scientific papers in international conferences.
He is currently writing a book on Human Resource for Health.
He has also been involved in healthcare projects, research, resource mobilisation, strategy development, evaluation of investment projects, feasibility studies, capacity building and general management advisory program projects across Africa.
Dr. Onyango has also worked with and led numerous public sector reforms which include: National Governments, Agencies, Authorities, Regulators, State Corporations and Parastatals, Commissions and Independent Offices, County Governments, Regional Bodies such as the East Africa Community, South Africa Development Corporation, Africa Union, International Organisations and Development Partners e.g. World Bank, DFiD, IMF, WHO, UN Bodies, Private Sector Health Services providers, International and Local Non-Governmental Organisations.
He has been involved in numerous consultancy programs and projects with various organisations in over 15 countries in Africa that include: Kenya, Republic of South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Namibia, South Sudan, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Togo, Burundi, Zambia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Malawi, Ghana, the Federal Republic of Somalia, Botswana, and Ethiopia.
