Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman is the current second CAS in the Ministry of Health (MoH), serving alongside CAS Mwangangi who recently entered the public service. Dr. Aman was appointed into Cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta Sicily Kariuki’s era to serve with Engineer Peter Tum.
Dr Aman is one of the doctors who have vast experience in scientific research, leadership and management. He went to the University of Nairobi and obtained his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. He later proceeded to the university of California in San Francisco for his PhD. in pharmaceutical chemistry.
Aman is currently the Chairman of the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO and a Council member of the Taita Taveta University. He is also an Honorary Research Professor at Strathmore University and a Senior Research Affiliate at the National Museums of Kenya.
In the year 1995 to 1988, Dr. Aman became the custodian of Hedida Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the School of Medicine, Stanford University, at Stanford, California, US.
From the year 1988 to 1990, he later joined the National Cancer Institute of the NIH at Frederick in Maryland, the US as a Fogarty Visiting Associate.
As mentioned earlier, his vast experience has enabled him serve as Director on the Boards just to mention but a few;
- Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI)
- National Museums of Kenya (NMK).
